HEY SCHMIER, HELLO, HOW ARE YOU?
I’m great! A really great game of football and a really great gig this weekend, so I’m feeling fantastic.

YOU ARE OVBIOUSLY WATCHING THE FIFA WC, ARE YOU PROUD WITH GERMANY BEATING AUSTRALIA LAST NIGHT?
I think, Australia should stick to cricket, they gave us a lot of good chances, but I have to say that our young team played really well and I hope they will continue like this.

WHO’S GOING TO WIN THE TOURNAMENT?
It is difficult to say as the good teams are still coming up. Spain are about to make their debut and Brazil too - they are a Top candidate as always.

If the German team continues like this, we have a good chance, you know. This is the best young team we have for many years! And we are also a very good tournament team, so we will see.
I think it's going to be between Germany, England... maybe Holland, Brazil and Spain.

Well, not all of German metal musicians are into football but some bands are really big fans of the game, like TANKARD for instance.

Football is N1 sport in Germany and a lot of people have played in their youth. Myself, I played in a team for a very long time when I was young until metal became more important and the band got more professional. I really had played football for many years!В 

So I guess Germany has a lot of tradition in football that’s why still a lot of metal fans are also football fans!

OK, THE BIG NEWS THIS WEEK IS DESTRUCTION SIGNING BACK WITH NUCLEAR BLAST. TELL US, WHAT THE FIRST REALEASE WOULD BE IN THAT CASE?
A brand new album! We are already working on the material – we have ten songs finished and will start recording next month. Of course it’s great motivation for us to be back on Nuclear Blast.

It’s been our best work ever. It’s been a great time with the label and I am very happy to be back, so it really gives us big motivation for the album which will go on a more thrashy and faster direction. The songs are more aggressive than in the last albums. So we are back home and back to the Antichrist tradition in the songwriting.

YOU ARE PLAYING AT THE KAVARNA ROCK FESTIVAL ON JULY 23, WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS ONE?
I like the place, we've been there before, so I know what to expect. For us it would be cool to stay a little bit longer in Bulgaria to enjoy the time there. Not just to come in, play and fly out.

Of course we are going to bring a set list of the total classics, you know, of the 27 years. I hope we are going to have enough time to play a long set - that's something I don't know yet! It depends on how many minutes playing time the promoter will give us! We need at least one hour fifty minutes to put all the classics out!В В
