The legendary guitar hero talks exclusivly on Tangra Mega Rock about the brand-new BLS album, Bulgaria and blowjobs...

During the Black Label Society week (October 9th – 15th) on Tangra Mega Rock we spoke to legendary Zakk Wylde live on the phone on Tangra Metal Shock show on Monday October 9.

V.V. - How has this year been for you so far?

Zakk - It has been wicked, we played at the Ozzfest, we have rehearsals coming up, we have a whole bunch of stuff and then we are getting ready for Australia and New Zealand tour for Shot to Hell and we’ll try to wrap up Ozzy’s record before I head back to the road.

V.V. - Well obviously, the new album sounds very much Zakk Wylde-ish.

Zakk - That's the way it should be.

V.V. - Well but the point to me is, to see that straight after, well couple of months after we were sitting here in Bulgaria drinking with you guys it was James LoMenzo – your bass player who left the band, so tell us what happened?

Zakk - James is a godfather of my daughter, so nothing bad is between us, but he wanted to take a break, he wanted to go home to chill for a while.

And he recommended J.D. and then J.D. was back in the band, but I guess James wanted to get back on the road and the guys from Megadeth called him, so he is out kicking ass wit Megadeth now.

V.V. - Do you think that this new album is better than the previous one called Mafia?

Zakk - No, I don’t think the new album is better than any of the others it is just like new, like a new brand of beer….it would be the same if you ask me which is my favorite Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath record – I love them all. It just depends on what mood I am in at the moment.

V.V. - Well, Zakk please tell me what actually happened to you, what have you been through since this drinking to oblivion in Sofia 14-15 month ago?
Tours and recording and drinking, anything else?

Zakk - Yeah, I got a blowjob from the wife you know what I mean…that’s just about it I mean, no it’s just the same thing, music 24/7, lifting weights every day, my usual routine get up in the morning, practice with lifts and then back on the stage …

V.V. - Which song of this album is your favorite one?

Zakk - Ah, you know I do like Concrete Jungle and I do like New Religion and rock songs like Black Mass Reverends, I love the ballads like The Last Goodbye, Nothing’s The Same and Sick Of It All…it depends on what mood I am.

V.V. - You mentioned the Ozzy album; it is supposed to be released in the beginning of the next year right?

Zakk - Yeah some time in February…

V.V. - How does it sound like, any surprises?

Zakk - No, its just riff orientated right now, ripped out and then we’ll always get the most out of it you know like we had No More Tears and Mamma I’m Coming Home – the light and the dark side of the things it is just ass kicking new stuff…

V.V. - What memories do you actually keep from your stay in this bloody country called Bulgaria?

Zakk - Oh, Bulgaria we had an ass-kicking time. Hopefully we’ll see you guys soon and tell the rest of Bulgaria guys until Black label comes keep wearing black and keep the bottles cold…
