"Real metal is coming back, and we're doing exactly that - playing real metal!"

Vassil Varbanov: Hey, Matt, how are you doing?

Matt Heafy: I'm good, how are you?

V. V.: Good, thank you! You are in Europe now, but before that you made a big tour in the USA with In Flames. What was the response of the crowds? Were In Flames' fans happy to see you, and vice versa?

M. H.: I personally do seeВ a differnece between the bands in the U.S., actually, butВ it's just about the same audience for everyone, I mean kids that are here to see In Flames are equally here to see us.

V. V.: Lots of American bands usually say that - besides the Ozzfest - there's nothing really happening the the U.S. metal scene right now. Do you agree?

M. H.: I don't think so. Right now metal's getting bigger that it's been during the last 5 or 10 years. It really seemed to be gone away for a while, but real metal is coming back now, which is nice. We're doing that as well, you know -В playing real metal. After all, we're just poor metal kids who grew up listening to metal and learning to play metal.

V. V.: Now you're 18. What was the music that was exciting you when you were a kid?

M. H.: Metal from the 80's, just like now. I first got into metal when I was 12 with bands like Metallica, Maiden, Pantera, Slayer, Testament, Megadeth...

V. V.: After playing on some of the bigger festivals throughout Europe, what's going to be the next big thing for you and Trivium?

M. H.: Going back to America to some festivals in July, and then we have a European tour with Iron Maiden in the end of the year.

V. V.: Ok, Matt, thanks for being with us!

M. H.: Thank you very much! Bye!
