"Damn the man!"

Drummer JC Dwyer presents "Age of Tyranny/The Tenth Crusade" - the tenth studio fist by the mighty Pro-Pain, scheduled to smash Europe's face on March 30 via Soul Food/AFM Records...

Vassil Varbanov: Hey, JC, where are you at the moment?

JC Dwyer: I am home, in Texas.

V. V.: The idea to have you with us today is "Age of Tyranny/The Tenth Crusade" - the tenth studio album by the mighty Pro-Pain. What's the vibe inside the band?

JC: The feeling is really exciting, because not every band gets the chance to have ten studio albums these days - everything comes and goes so fast... We're really happy to have been around this long.

V. V.: Do you already plan the eleventh one?

JC: Fuck yeah, man, we're gonna just be around for a while, ha-ha!

V. V.: Well, when we first heard this album was coming, there were rumours that it's gonna be quite political and charged with a message...

JC: Absolutely. It sticks to the same message throughout the whole album. There's definitely a statement being made, so you got the right message.

V. V.: If you have to say that message in just one simple sentance, what would it be?

JC: Damn the man!

V. V.: Which of the 11 tracks on "The Tenth Crusade" is your favourite one?

JC: "All for King George".

V. V.: By the way, what do you do in the studio to get this raw live energy you're so famous with?

JC: We feed off of each other. I mean, the energy that comes across on stage comes just as much from the four of us as it does back from the audience.

V. V.: When you were starting Pro-Pain, you sounded much more hardcore, and years later some diehard fans of the genre stated: Pro-Pain are not hardcore anymore. What do you think about that?

JC: People can say whatever they want. We're Pro-Pain, that is what it is. We don't try to stick to any kind of format, nor stay hardcore or go metal, or any shit like that.

V. V.: A band of four is a very stong unit. Did it happen to you guys to be in a fist-fight in a pub?

JC: Actually - yes, it happens, and when it does, you do what you've gotta do to protect each other's back and get the fuck outta there.

V. V.: Ok, back to "The Tenth Crusade". Who produced this album?

JC: We did it ourselves. Tom Klimchuck (lead guitar) recorded some of it, Eric Klinger (rhythm guitar) also did some, then both did the mixing. And Gary Meskil (vocals and bass), of course, is in charge of the whole thing, makin' sure everything's cool and stuff, so it's absolutely a self-produced album.
