The Happy Mondays just can't seem to catch a break lately.

First, dancer Bez was sentenced to prison time for choking his ex-girlfriend. Then earlier this month he got in trouble for violating a restraining order filed against him by said ex, which stipulated he wasn't to have any contact with her and was a fugitive for a while.

Singer Shaun Ryder probably saw it as a good thing when he was cast for the new season of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!... until he was bitten by a python lastВ week on the show, that is.

Ryder and former British Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik were battling against each other for immunity to stay on the show last night. They were told in order to win, they had to reach into a box containing rats and an Australian carpet python and remove 10 keys.

Both contestants were bitten by the snake and needed medical help. Ryder was brave about it, according to the Daily Mail — he didn't scream and was calm, even though the python was biting him. 

"If that weren't someone's animal I would have fucking smashed it," Ryder said after being asked what the bite felt like, according to the tabloid.

"It was like sticking your hand through a sheet of glass and it wouldn't let go. It took two of them to get the thing off."

While the Australian carpet python, or Morelia spilota, as it's also known, doesn't have any venom, its bites are, as you can gather, pretty nasty.
