Anthrax have almost finished their ninth studio album.

Tentatively titled ‘Worship Music’, the album is the first the band have made since 2003’s 'We've Come For You All'. It’s also the first album the band has recorded with singer Joey Belladonna since 1990.

Speaking to the Artisan News Service, guitarist Scott Ian said: "We're almost ready to go. Eight things are recorded and we've only got to go back and re-record two or three things. And Joey's singing on all of it."

Belladonna is the second singer to record vocals for 'Worship Music'. Sessions initially took place with former vocalist Dan Nelson, but he left in 2009. After another former vocalist, John Bush said he couldn't commit to the band, Belladonna stepped in and joined full-time.

Anthrax have had a troubled time with vocalists in their 29-year career, going through a total of eight so far. Belladonna is on his third stint in the band, having quit in 1995 and 2007, only to return earlier this year.

The album is rumoured to feature covers of Refused's 'New Noise' and Alice In Chains' 'We Die Young'.
