There are strong rumours that Dream Theater have chosen German-born Marco Minnemann to replace Mike Portnoy.

Blabbermouth report that the highly rated drummer, who now lives in San Diego, is now the favourite for the job. Dream Theater themselves have officially announced that they’ve made their choice, but are not yet in a position to confirm who it is.

However, Minnemann is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and eclectic drummers in the world. He’s also a multi-instrumentalist who’s worked with the likes of Paul Gilbert and Nina Hagen.
