PRINCE’s Original Drummer Suffers Heart Attack
03 February 2011This morning the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that the original drummer for Prince & The Revolution, Bobby Z, is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack.
The newspaper reported that the 55-year-old drummer (whose real name is Robert B. Rivkin) had three blocked arteries, two of which have so far been cleared.
After Prince replaced Bobby Z with Sheila E in 1986, Rivkin went on to release an eponymous solo album and became an accomplished record producer who worked with such artists as Boy George, Aswad, Manhattan Transfer, Jonny Lang, George Thorogood, and Wendy and Lisa.
