FAITLESS announce split
18 March 2011A lot can be accomplished in a decade-and-a-half, and after their 15 years on the scene, British dance-party maestros Faithless are going to call it quits.
As the BBC points out, singer Maxi Jazz has taken to the band’s official webpage to tell fans that the group has “probably made [its] collective point by now…it’s time to close the book and return to the library.”
Formed in 1995, Faithless was built around producing duo Rollo and Sister Bliss and released six albums in the course of their career. They were renowned for their ability to get large hordes of people to dance their asses off and are most famous for songs like “Insomnia”, “Salva Mea”, and “God Is A DJ”, which all hit no. 1 on the U.S. Dance charts.
Jazz – whose real name is Maxwell Alexander Fraser – went on to say that fans have provided the band with the “most unbelievable, epic, and moving experience,” and attributes Faithless’ demise to people “growing, changing, and leaving the things of youth behind them.”
Fans will get a chance to say goodbye at a trio of UK shows starting with an April 4tth date at the O2 Academy on Glasgow. They’ll close the book on their career with a pair of London shows on April 7th and 8th. Tickets start at around $60 and are available here.
