Max Cavalera has called for an end to the war of words between himself and former band Sepultura, vowing he’s learned his lesson after making up with his brother following ten years of acrimony.

Cavalera walked out on the band he’d formed in 1996. He reunited with his sibling, drummer Iggor, in 2007 and the pair play together in Cavalera Conspiracy.

But the frontman, who also plays with Soulfly, hopes a time can come when the original Sepultura lineup can also settle their differences, and play together again just occasionally.

It would require a change of tack from his former bandmates, who have reacted angrily to his apparent attempts to force a reunion upon them.
Guitarist Andreas Kisser recently spoke out against Cavalera quotes in the press, repeating there would never be a reunion. But last week he softened, saying: “I want to have a relationship with the people I worked with. We could do different stuff and not call it Sepultura.”

Now Cavalera echoes those sentiments. He tells Bravewords: “I don’t have anything against those guys. To be friends again would be really cool.

“After spending ten years not talking to Iggor, and seeing how stupid that was, I wish this press war was over. Ten years not speaking and now we’re back again – we could have solved it years ago but we didn’t. It’s stupid.

“I wish it was finished and we could be friends. We should be playing in different groups and having fun with it, but doing some shows together from time to time. That would be great.”

Cavalera Conspiracy are preparing to tour new album Blunt Force Trauma, during which they’ll play a selection of Sepultura tracks.
