Poly Styrene, most known as the vocalist with X-Ray Spex, has died at the age of 54, from breast cancer.

She became an iconic figure with the band in 1977, when the single Oh Bondage, Up Yours was released.

Their debut album, 1978’s Germ Free Adolescents, got to number 30 on the UK charts.

Real name Marion Joan Elliott-Said, she was strongly connected to the Rock Against Racism campaign and a devotee of Hare Krishna. She also released solo records.
