Derek Sherinian was blessed to gain two top-notch guest musicians for his new solo album 'Blood of the Snake' (release date in July): Billy Idol and Guns'n'Roses icon Slash. Sherinian already supported Idol on his previous tour and recorded, both with Idol and Slash, Mungo Jerry's classic song 'In the Summertime'. 'That was my favourite song when I was three', Sherinian admits. 'Billy sang this song when we were rehearsing in the studio and we immediately started jamming to it. All of a sudden we thought that this could be a good cover song. To me, Slash was simply perfect for it.'
Other tracks on this album were sung by Zakk Wylde, and guest appearances of Ingwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci (Dream Theater) and Simon Philipps (Toto) definitely make a name for themselves here too.
Derek will play keyboards at Billy Idol's tour this summer again.
