Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has revealed that the band are far enough into the recording process of their new album that he would be "shocked" if the follow-up to 2010's A Thousand Suns does not come out in 2012.

"We're in the studio and we're well on our way to making our next record," Bennington told Rolling Stone. "I can tell you that we have a lot of good music, a lot of quality songs."

Bennington also said that the new plan for Linkin Park is to release a new album about every 18 months:

"Touring for two years is excruciating. When we would tour for two years even the most resilient person in the band, at the end of that, was miserable."

Linkin Park is teaming up again with producer Rick Rubin for their new record.
