Twenty-five years after inducted into Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Charles Hardin “Buddy” Holly is to get his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to Amarillo.com, the ceremony for Holly will take place at 11:30 a.m. PDT on September 7, the 75th anniversary of his birth.

The Los Angeles City Council has agreed to designate that day “Buddy Holly Day in the City of Los Angeles.” Phil Everly and Peter Asher will speak at the ceremony. Everly was good friends with Holly and a pallbearer at his funeral in Lubbock, Texas.

Peter Asher had a hit with Holly’s “True Love Ways” as part of 1960s act Peter and Gordon, and he has just produced a new Holly tribute CD called Listen to Me: Buddy Holly, that will be released on September 6.
