"The dramatic turn of events for Dream Theater was when it was made official that the band will continue without Mike Portnoy. And even though its substitute - Mike Mangini - is also a complete virtuoso and nutcase with drumsticks (Steve Vai has the habit of not accepting anyone normal into his band), Mike Portnoy is part of the core in DT. So the first album with a new player is a test."
