Johnny Depp is set to appear on the soundtrack for his forthcoming movie The Rum Diary.

Depp's own company Infinitum Nihil will release the soundtrack later this month and the album will feature two songs by the Johnny Depp Band, an instrumental by Depp and a duet between Depp and JJ Holiday, reports Billboard.

The album also features Christopher Young's jazz inspired score as well as Dean Martin's ‘Volare’ and ‘The Mermaid Song’ by Patti Smith.

According to Young, "Most of the tracks on the CD were presented as thematic possibilities for the film. This give me a chance to pour out music that has been inside of me all these years."

Young – who also wrote the music for two Spiderman movies, will be performing selections from the score with a 20 piece big band on October 24 at Catalina Bar & Grill in Los Angeles.

"I'm a little nervous. Never in all my years would I think I could put together a band to play my music live outside a recording studio," he said. "I'm really excited."

The film, which is based on the Hunter S Thompson novel of the same name, is released in the UK on November 4.
