MAZZY STAR announces first new music in 15 years
18 October 2011Later this month, California alt-rock crew Mazzy Star will return with their first piece of new music in 15 years.
According to the website of singer Hope Sandoval, a new single called “Common Burn”, backed with the B-side “Lay Myself Down”, will be released on October 31st via Rhymes of an Hour Records. A limited edition colored vinyl will be released on November 8th. You can hear samples of both tracks by scrolling below.
Mazzy Star, which was formed out of the ashes of Opai and Dream Syndicate, is perhaps best known for their 1994 hit “Fade into You”, which topped at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to soundtrack about a half dozen television shows and movies.
The band’s last record was 1996′s Among My Swan, and they’ve been mostly inactive since. However, in July 2009, Sandoval revealed that the group had begun work on their fourth LP.
