Gay For Johnny Depp have announced that they have split up after seven years.

The New York hardcore band, who initially existed as a side project for members of Garrison and Instruction, formed in 2004 and released three studio albums over their career. They first put out 'The Politics Of Cruelty' in 2007, followed by 'Manthology: A Tireless Exercise in Narcissism Featuring Gay for Johnny Depp's Excellent Cadavers' in 2010 and their most recent effort 'What Doesn't Kill You, Eventually Kills You', which came out earlier this year.

The four piece also released three EPs across their career and toured with the likes of Million Dead, Hundred Reasons and Pulled Apart By Horses.

The band have posted a farewell message on their official website which jokingly blames their split on the world's global financial meltdown.

Gay For Johnny Depp have also posted a video message, announcing their split.
