DROWNING POOL Part Ways With Singer, Look for New Frontman
29 November 2011Hard rockers Drowning Pool are once again seeking a new vocalist, having parted ways with singer Ryan McCombs.
“We have always been a band who has gained success despite having multiple singers … maybe we suffer from reverse вЂlead singer’s disease’,” quipped guitarist and vocalist C.J. Pierce about the band’s third frontman change in 10 years.
“Changing things up has not always been easy, but the band has become re-energized time and time again. We are looking to find a new singer who will give both us and, and most importantly our fans, the new adrenaline shot they deserve.”
McCombs (Ex-Soil) joined Drowning Pool in 2005 and played on 2007′s вЂFull Circle’ and 2010′s self-titled release.
Drowning Pool formed in Dallas in 1996 and were originally fronted by Dave Williams, who died tragically from heart disease on the band’s tour bus in the Northern District of Virginia in 2002 while the group was on Ozzfest. He was the singer on the band’s breakthrough hit вЂBodies,’ which remains a radio staple today.
Williams was replaced by Jason Jones, who sang on 2004′s вЂDesensitized,’ but personality clashes led to his dismissal and in 2005 the band announced the addition of McCombs in their home town during a one-off performance at Ozzfest.
Drowning Pool are currently writing their fifth album at home as a trio while they look for a replacement for McCombs.
