For the last few years he had been suffering from diabetes.

The memorial service will be held at the 'St. Pokrov'В church in Sofia at 3.30 p.m. on Sunday, January 21.

Chavdar Chendov and Rosemary Statelova were the authors of 'Pop music: a subjective point of view and an attempt at objective judgement' (published in 1983) - one of the first Bulgarian books on pop and rock music.

Chendov, nicknamed Grandpa Rock by his 'Rhythm' colleagues, was the man who discovered the now legendary Bulgarian band Kontrol. His son Emil is the singer for Epizod.В
