FUELED BY FIRE Spread the Fire (2007)
20 August 2007
Fueled by Fire is not just another band contacted by Metal Blade after being in the underground for 5 years. They represent the worldwide comeback of thrash metal in its original purist form, known to many metalheads from the middle of the 80’s.
Hailing from the USA, FBF had changed tons of people in their line-up before coming to the point of recording their debut. And here it is, “Spread the Fire” - an ultimate collection of grinding, cutting and stabbing devices that you can hardly call songs, just because their goal is not melody, but mosh!
Designed to make people lose heads and limbs in a giant moshpit, this CD, if played loud enough, will show no mercy to your neighbors, too. Managing to sound both traditional and up-to-date is often very difficult to achieve, especially within the confines of such a stifling genre, but FBF do their best. They keep it straightforward musically. Only the sound is covering the modern standards and the thought of how could the original Slayer and Testament records have sounded if put down with today’s studio facilities is kind of, er, scary the least.
FBF might still be missing that X-factor to truly set themselves apart from the forthcoming thrash pack, but it’s still a debut album, let’s not forget it.
