NIGHTMARE Genetic Disorder (2007)
26 November 2007
It’s surprising that bands like Nightmare can offer something really unexpected. They’ve recorded a new album and in spite of the mistrust which you might feel, I advise you to try it at least once. The mistrust will probably appear not because the French are not stable at their performance, but because of the recent weakness of the genre they’ve chosen: Traditional power metal is having difficulties these days, that’s why many good bands are often condemned among the tons of chaff.
“Genetic Disorder” has a debil cover, but it is probably the band’s only problem here. And having in mind that this is also a question of personal preference and understanding about art, things look almost ideal…
It’s really interesting, but there are no nightmares in the content of the ew Nightmare album at all. Produced by Fredrik Nordstrom, it is homogeneous, bound by general, really melodic conception which is showing up with its guitar power and great melody. The probability the disc to be played many times is great, because with its ambitious realization it fills up an empty niche in the whole metal genre, needed by many fans.
Obviously, miracles from bravery have been made in Gothenburg, and this time the lucky ones were Nightmare. Deservedly. After the long path they’ve walked and the concussions, they’ve needed a top in their discography. It is still too early to give such place for “Genetic Disorder”, but the time will show if its captivating effect can make it real.
