CREMATORY Pray (2008)
18 February 2008
Crematory made their official return as an active band a few years ago, but their real touch to the roots of their history is the new album “Pray”. After the strange and contradictive “Klagebilder” (2006), we now have the big news - Crematory are back in perfect shape!
It’s really nice to know that behind “Pray” there are no religious themes at all. The idea of the name has come after creating the cover artwork, which makes future interest about this question meaningless.
One of the most valuable achievements on this album is the perfect balance between harsh vocals and clean singing. The task, as usual, was shared between Felix and Matthias who are absolutely uncompromising. The piano here makes impression, too. In many places it is used as a background, but in other it has the main role.
It is really strange how after years without playing these musicians succeeded in making such strong, fresh and grabbing material. Crematory’s experience brought them many times to a well-deserved success, but in the last years the German group did not use all of the possibilities they’ve had. Obviously it was important for the band to change their label Nuclear Blast with Massacre Records. From what we hear in “Pray” we can surely await a leading place for the band in this label.
After the first hearings we can show up some of the songs from the album - “Sleeping Solution”, “Pray” and “Burning Bridges”, but without a sole leader the disc is again a great present for all of Crematory’s fans.
