TURBONEGRO Retox (2007)

If you don't know, these buys like it rough. It's even better to say these Norwegians are one of the main claimants to the ultimate bad-ass rockers throne. With their absolutely vulgar, sexist, full of black humor, speedy, typically Scandinavian punk’n’roll (or as they refer to it - death rock), they remind the world that if you wanna be a real rocker, you need to be a complete freak at first place. Or maybe they’re just among the many pretentious people to know the absolute truth regarding the question "What is rock?", and even worse - they try and give an answer to the ultimate question in the last song in this latest album of theirs titled “Retox”, with clear examples from the rock history or just the book of anatomy... The truth is that all Turbojugend members will fall in love with that album, but it's not offering anything you haven't really heard many times before. Hundreds of times... And that's not the real problem. The problem is that even if its charge is adequate to the message behind the music, it is still that much of an old-school album that it stinks of naphthaline mixed with classic heavy metal know-how. Of course, there are exceptions. Besides the good mood it will bring to you, you will catch yourself shaking your head to “Everybody Loves a Chubby Dude” and... that's it. Maybe it would be best if we put a "strictly for true fans" label on that CD in order not to provoke any negative reactions in the form of a thrown pair of testicals. Thousands of Turbomaniacs all over the world can't be wrong. Can they?
