UDO is a legend. And this had been proved by the thousand of metal hearts who came to warm them up in the frosty night of Nov 16th.

And HE brought us back in the times when the world was young, the elastic jeans - a luxury article of clothing, the internet did not existed and we didn't had much info on what happens in the music world outside of Bulgaria.

UDO

But UDO and his band were here now, more than 25 years after these glorious times. They were here to prove that the good old heavy metal can still fire up. They did it while recording live there upcoming DVD!

First we had the Norwegians of SEVENFIELD that started directly, without soundcheck and putting a lot of energy. I must confess that I have never heard of them before.

Nevertheless of the technical problems they faced (almost missing guitar sound) these guys were very active, headbanging all the time and showing themselves like a very solid band.

SEVENFIELD

After the opening act it was time for a beer while the hall was filling up. Having a look in the crowd I saw very different people- young kids, white-haired gentlemen as well as good looking ladies.

Then the hall exploded and Mr.Udo and Co. attacked with the self titled songs of their last two albums ('Rev-Raptor' Рё 'Dominator' ).

The sound is good and the lighting effects are really nice. This is not a first timeВ UDO visiting Bulgaria but he is a metal symbolВ and one of the artists that are always welcome and will never bother his Bulgarian fans!

They started with a selection taken of all their albums but the real explosion happened with the first of the immortal Accept classics -В 'Princess of the Dawn'.

Then we had a guitar solo and Igor Gianola walking among the crowd, giving them a real joy of this direct contact! The solo is nothing special but who cares!

The next one is 'Neon Nights' (Accept cover) and the hymnВ 'Man and Machine' that is extended to the drum solo.

UDO is certain on the stage in his traditional military outfit and t-shirt with a print "UDO- Born For Metal". He does not speak too much besides the obligatory thanks from time to time. There is no boring pose and he is leaving the stage during the solos. But he is giving to the crowd a lot of classical German heavy metal!

The show is going to its end and we have again Accept classics mixed with UDO's songs. Comparing the set list I see that we got 3 more Accept songs than the rest of the tour - 'Burning', 'I am a Rebel' and 'Metal Heart'. And at the end - 'Balls to the Wall'.....Maaaaan!

Many are considering UDO as outdated, stuck in the 80s etc. But without UDO and his generation our beloved metal music wouldn't be what we know it nowadays. Because UDOВ was 'Born for Metal' and this is what he gonna do till the end!
