FOO FIGHTERS To Record in Outer Space
17 February 2012We’re assuming Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl spent some time with Muse recently because now he says that their next album will be recorded in space.
Foo Fighters had a lengthy conversation with MTV on the red carpet at The 54th Annual Grammy Awards, where the Foo Fighters nearly swept all categories they were nominated in.
The band took home five Grammys losing only to Adele — who did sweep all her categories — for “Album of the Year.”
“If we win them all, we’ll look like dicks,” joked Grohl prior to the telecast. He also detailed his upcoming ‘Sound City’ documentary and the rumored accompanying album:
“We released a teaser trailer … there may be an album that accompanies [it]. I recorded a lot of songs with a lot of people in the past couple months. There used to be a recording studio called Sound City…Fleetwood Mac made records there; Neil Young made records there. Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Dio, Ratt, Pat Benatar, Rick Springfield, Rage Against the Machine did their first record there, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica … Evel Knievel, Charles Manson recorded there, Barry White, Johnny Cash…So I interview them to tell the history of the studio, but then I invite them back to record with me, and we make a record.”
The interviewer also asked about the rumor — which Grohl started himself in a recent blog post — that Foo Fighters had already begun working on a new album. “We have an idea. It’s kind of a really big idea,” said Grohl. “[We're going to record it] in space. To tape. An analog moonshot.”
