CHRIS CORNELL Honors WHITNEY HOUSTON
18 February 2012SOUNDGARDEN frontman CHRIS CORNELL surprised everyone with his tribute to the late WHITNEY HOUSTON during his acoustic set at President Obama’s fundraiser in San Francisco on Thursday night, 16 February.
During the performance he covered songs from his solo career and his days with Audioslave as well as covers of Bob Marley and John Lennon songs.
Attendees at the Nob Hill Center fundraiser were treated to a surprise when CORNELL closed the set with a cover of the Dolly Parton song ‘I Will Always Love You.’
The unusual choice was presumably his tribute to the recently deceased Whitney Houston, who re-popularized the track with her 1992 remake.
