THE VANDALS Bassist Runs for County Judge
05 March 2012Politics is very en vogue among rockers these days. First, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe announced his bid for President, then Dave Mustaine endorsed Rick Santorum for President and now Joe Escalante of the punk band THE VANDALS is running for elected office, too.
Escalante, an entertainment lawyer by day, and bass player by night, is campaigning to be a judge in L.A. County.
Escalante, 49, earned his law degree from Loyola in Los Angeles.
Escalante, a conservative, is currently a volunteer temporary judge. He's been logging hundreds of hours behind the bench since 2009, presiding over small claims, traffic, unlawful detainer, limited civil, and limited criminal matters.
To officially become a full-fledged judge and earn a paycheck for presiding over cases, Escalante must be elected to the position.
The election is June 5 and Escalante is reaching out to voters via an official campaign Facebook page.
From 2006-2008, Escalante was the host of 'The Last of the Famous International Morning Shows,' a popular drive-time radio show on Indie 103.1 FM in Los Angeles.
These days, he can be heard on Sundays 5:00 to 7:00 PM on KTLK AM 1150 in Los Angeles, and Fridays at 11:00AM PST on indie1031.com at 2:00 PM on Radio Weezer where he dispenses free legal advice for artists and entertainers.
Escalante also co-owns Kung Fu records with fellow Vandals member Warren Fitzgerald.
