A new documentary film, Mission To Lars, will be out in Picturehouse cinemas this June.

The film follows Metallica fan Tom Spicer as he tries to meet his hero, Lars Ulrich.

Spicer, who has the autism-like Fragile X Syndrome, and his journalist sister Kate and film maker brother William, go on a quest to track down Ulrich in the movie.

Tom's siblings take him from his care home in Exmouth and together the family visit Los Angeles and Las Vegas in order to try and meet Metallica.

The film has been scored by Mike Lindsay of Tunng and Bob Dylan, Devendra Banhart and Blur feature on the soundtrack.

Says Kate Spicer of the film: "We had this fantasy of hitting the road with Tom and recreating some of the magic of our teenage years cruising around in £100 cars, eating Burger King and listening to heavy metal on the tape deck.

We thought it would be fun, bonding. We wanted to do something good for our brother
."

The film was shown to Ulrich last year before Metallica played Sonisphere Festival.

Profits from the film will go to the charity Mencap. Producers of the film have already raised £25,000 for the charity and Kasabian donated items to raise money, while Huey Morgan from Fun Lovin’ Criminals and 6 Music also helped out with the production.
