FACEBOOK have launched a new 'Listen' button which allows its users to listen to music on the social network's artist pages.

The 'Listen' button will work by automatically connecting to the music streaming service the person uses most frequently and will then begin playing the most popular songs from that artist.

This means that the likes of Deezer, Napster and Spotify will automatically begin playing.

The likes of Linkin Park, Justin Bieber and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash are among the first artists to allow users to do this on their artist pages.

Speking to NME, Iain McKenzie (pictured below), who is Pan-Euro communications manager for Facebook, said:

"Making music social again seems to have really struck a nerve with people. Services like Spotify and Deezer are great on their own, but when you integrate them with Facebook and add the ability to listen with friends and share tracks, it takes the enjoyment to a whole new level."

He continued: "The listen button is the latest way of enjoying music through Facebook. Now, if an artist has their own page, fans can listen to their music with a single click.

It's a fantastic way for musicians to showcase their work to the people who care most about it."

According to recent figures, Facebook now has almost 900 million users across the world and is now reportedly valued at $75 billion (£47 million).
