While Slipknot prep the release of a compilation album, their lead singer Corey Taylor is hard at work recording a new album with his “other” band, Stone Sour.

In anticipation of the upcoming record, the frontman played a brand new track at Download Festival this weekend.

As Blabbermouth reports, Stone Sour’s upcoming fourth record is a sprawling, conceptual double-LP, entitled House Of Gold And Bones.

The first half of the 24-song record, which tells the first part of its story, is set to drop in October, while the second half will only be released in 2013.

Last weekend, Mr. Taylor debuted one of the album’s songs at UK’s Download Festival. Watch the solo acoustic performance of the brand new Taciturn below.

House Of Gold And Bones, which was described by Corey Taylor as a mix between “Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Alice In Chains’ Dirt,” will also be accompanied by a comic book produced by DC comics.

He described the plot as “a morality play about a man who’s standing at the crossroads of his life trying to figure out what to do next.”

More information on the record as it becomes available.
