Two years after metal icon Ronnie James Dio's death from stomach cancer, his widow and former manager, Wendy, has remarried.

The former Mrs. Dio wed boyfriend Omar Gimenez at a private and somewhat low-key ceremony that was held in Montecito, California this past Sunday, September 9.

The news was revealed via the wedding planner's Twitter account.

Dio died on May 16, 2010, at the age of 67, and ever since, Wendy Dio has worked to keep her husband's memory alive in the media and the metal community. Niji Entertainment Group -- a company Ronnie and Wendy had conceived before his passing -- has been releasing a steady stream of Dio-related albums and also material from other artists.

Dio's good friend and maid of honour Gloria Butler (BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler's wife) remarked about the event:

"I couldn’t imagine, at my age, being part of a wedding party…never mind learning how to be a maid of honor. Well, not only did I manage to survive the entire ordeal…I thoroughly enjoyed being part of a truly wonderful event. In my next life; I’ll surely be weddingologist. This is a new field that I’ve either invented or perfected…that being a wedding planner and psychologist all in one!
