JIMI HENDRIX’s iconic 1969 Woodstock set will be shown in cinemas worldwide to mark what would have been the guitarist’s 70th birthday.

Hendrix 70: Live At Woodstock showcases one of the defining moments in rock history. It’s been assembled from the archive of Oscar-winning director Michael Wadleigh.

At 9am on August 18, 1969, HENDRIX premiered his new outfit, the Band of Gypsys and delivered a set including Voodo Child, Fire, Purple Haze, Foxy Lady and his dramatic rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.

The twists and turns of his career up until that point are examined in new interviews with band members Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, long-time engineer Eddie Kramer and Woodstock promoter Michael Lang.

The documentary, directed by Grammy winner Bob Smeaton, will be shown before the performance footage.

Kramer has mixed a 5.1 surround sound audio track for the movie, which has been digitally restored from the original 16mm film.
