SMASHING PUMPKINS have entered a studio with producer Roy Thomas Baker to record their first album since 1999, according to a new post on the band's web site. Baker produced QUEEN's "A Night at the Opera", which included their classic "Bohemian Rhapsody", and also has THE CARS, JOURNEY and CHEAP TRICK on his lengthy rГ©sumГ©.

In early February, onetime SMASHING PUMPKINS bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur confirmed to MTV News that PUMPKINS bandleader Billy Corgan has been working on material that will, at some point, surface in the form of a new SMASHING PUMPKINS album.
