Original LACUNA COIL guitarist Claudio Leo died on Thursday (Jan. 17th) according to a posting on his band Cayne's Facebook page which read, "Goodbye Claudio. Rest in peace, brother."

Leo had reportedly been battling a serious disease which has not been publicly named.

He left LACUNA COIL in 1998 after performing on their self-titled EP and he then formed the band Cayne with fellow ex-LACUNA COIL guitarist Raffaele Zagaria in 1999.

LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia posted a tribute to Leo on Facebook which said:

"It's with deep sadness that I inform you all know that our dear friend and ex guitar player Claudio Leo left us. My deepest condolences to his family, close friends and the band Cayne. You will always be remembered for your strength and positivity. We love you, Claudio."
