THE ALMIGHTY to reunite in studio
07 February 2013THE ALMIGHTY are starting working on reunion music, frontman Ricky Warwick has announced.
The band’s classic lineup, featuring Stumpy Monroe, Pete Freisen and Floyd London will record new studio material later this year.
They formed in Glasgow in 1988 and last gathered for a tour in 2008, after reuniting two years previously. While an album was discussed at the time it didn’t take shape.
Now Warwick – who’s just completed work on the debut album by Thin Lizzy spinoff Black Star Riders – says:
“The classic lineup of The Almighty all got together for the first time in many years and spoke about plans for the 25th anniversary.
“The guys have decided they want to record some new material to be released along with reissues planned for 2013. The band’s website is being revamped and will be unveiled soon.”
Responding to an explosion of fan interest the singer adds: “A lot of you are asking about the possibility of live shows too. Due to my full commitment to Black Star Riders and our busy upcoming schedule, and the commitments of the other members of the Almighty, there are no live shows planned at the moment.”
Warwick became frontman of the revamped Thin Lizzy in 2009 before the band announced their plans to record a new album under Phil Lynott’s name had changed, and offshoot project BSR was born.
