According to numerous reports coming out of France, controversial Burzum frontman Varg Vikernes has been arrested on suspicion of plotting a “massacre”, with his home currently being searched for weapons and explosives and the notorious musician being held in custody.

Varg, who served 21 years in prison for the murder of fellow black metal musician Euronymous and has since generated further controversy for his racist views and online rants, is believed to have been amongst a list of names to have received the manifesto of Norwegian killer Anders Breivik, who shot dead 77 people in July of 2011. However, as The Quietus have noted, Varg openly criticised the actions of Breivik, noting,

”To Breivik I can only say I hope you do kill yourself…. you have made a big mistake.”
