Sgt Pepper' Tops Greatest Album Poll

The BeatlesвЂ™ вЂSgt PepperвЂ™ has been voted the greatest album of all time by Radio 2.

The 1967 album beat Michael JacksonвЂ™s вЂThrillerвЂ™ to the top spot in the poll of 100 albums.

The massive survey polled an impressive 220,000 listeners to the station, with a full run-down of the chart coming from DJ Simon Mayo at the weekend.

Others that charted high were U2вЂ™s вЂJoshua TreeвЂ™ at three, вЂRumoursвЂ™ by Fleetwood Mac at four and The Beatles' вЂRevolverвЂ™ at six.

Unsurprisingly considering listeners to the station, contemporary acts were largely given the cold shoulder in the poll.
