Last month we reported on an interview that METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich did with radio station 107.7 the Bone.

In the interview Ulrich mentioned that “There's another frontier heading in Metallica's direction in December. Which, if anybody [from Metallica management] even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we're very excited about.”

Now we might have the explanation to the drummer's cryptic statement. The Colombian Coca-Cola Zero website has just announced that METALLICA is set to play a special concert in Antarctica sometime between December 2 and December 15.

Coca-Cola apparently go on annual trips to Antarctica with a group of employees.

It is unclear who will be the audience at the event, presumably Coca-Cola employees. The first concert ever held in Antarctica back in 2007 had an audience of 17 people. It was the band NUNATAK, made up of a bunch of scientists stationed on the icy continent that put on a show that was broadcast worldwide as part of the Live Earth event.
