Dave Grohl was rocking the drums long before he did time in Nirvana, Foo Fighters, or Scream.

Way back in high school, he was in a hard rock outfit alongside vocalist Reuben Radding and bassist Dave Smith called DAIN BRAMAGE, which managed to survive for around two years.

Antiquiet just uncovered eight tracks from their 1986 Laundry Room demos.

The smudgy, lo-fi collection of songs offers plenty of raw insight into Grohl’s young, fiery upbringing behind the kit.

Songs like “Space Cat”, “Watching It Bake”, and “Success” would have slotted Dain Bramage alongside Husker Du, early Soul Asylum, and Dead Kennedys, respectively.

While their cover of Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band” certainly prepped the then future Nirvana drummer for many crappy odes to come. Warning: Shit gets loud and messy super fast.

Stream the eight tracks below. If you’re looking for more Dain Bramage, Antiquiet insists their LP, I Scream Not Coming Down, is easy to find on the Internet and “between the hands of vinyl collectors.”
