PINK FLOYD Exhibition Will Be ‘Vast And Innovative’
26 February 2014An ambitious multi-sensory PINK FLOYD exhibition is to open in Milan in September, with the aim of offering a “vast and innovative” insight into the band’s legacy.
Masterminded by the band’s Italian promoter Fran Tomasi, The Pink Floyd Exhibition – Their Mortal Remains will run for a week and cover 2500 square metres of former factory La Fabbrica Del Vapore.
Curator Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis fame has collaborated with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason to assemble over 300 artefacts from the band’s four-decade history. The installation is being designed by the late Mark Fisher’s Stufish company, who have a long history of creating FLOYD stage sets.
Powell says: “If ever a band lent itself to a major retrospective exhibition it’s Pink Floyd. Selecting what to include from such a treasure trove is both a dream and a nightmare – however there were elements that just had to be included, for example a 20 metre-wide sculpture of The Wall, five-metre high inflatables, and of course, a flying pig.
“We’ll be aiming for state-of-the-art visuals and sonic delivery, similar to the experience of attending a Pink Floyd concert. You’ll never know what to expect next.”
The Pink Floyd Exhibition – Their Mortal Remains opens on September 19, with tickets on sale this Thursday (February 27) via www.pinkfloydexhibition.com.
