NYC alternative rock icon PATTI SMITH has provided the closing theme song for The Wrestler and Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah.

Starring Russell Crowe, Ray Winstone, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Emma Watson, Noah tells its familiar two-by-two tale of global flooding on a blockbusting spectacular scale before Smith weighs in over the credits alongside the Kronos Quartet for a sensitive reading of Mercy Is, co-written with career-long collaborator Lenny Kaye. 
 
Catholic Online announced the news under the headline: ’Noah movie features Christian Artist Patti Smith.’

“Maybe they had me confused with someone else,” Smith tells British Classic Rock magazine, “but I wouldn’t deny being Christian. I was raised a Christian, I follow the teachings of Christ. So, you know, I have no problem with that title.”

Noah had its theatrical in the UK last Friday April 4.
