It’s a girl! One of rock’s greatest frontmen recently got a welcome bit of good news when he received word of the birth of his great-granddaughter.

CBS News is reporting that, over the weekend, Assisi Jackson, the 21-year old granddaughter of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, gave birth to a baby girl, whose name has not been revealed.

Jackson is the offspring of Jade Jagger, the only child from Mick’s tumultuous marriage to Bianca Jagger, which lasted from 1971 to 1978. The relationship ended due to Mick’s dalliances with future wife and supermodel Jerry Hall.

At the time the news of Jackson’s pregnancy was first announced, an unnamed source offered his view on Jagger’s take of the situation. “Mick is delighted and has no qualms about being a great-grandfather,” the person said. “He’s been joking about becoming a great, great, granddad and still performing!”

This newest development should come as welcome news indeed for Jagger who was recently rocked by the suicide of his longtime girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott.

The New York socialite, was laid to rest earlier this month at a ceremony at Manhattan’s St. Bartholomew’s Church. It was reported that Jagger sang a rendition of the Bob Dylan song 'Just Like a Woman' at the ceremony.
