AC/DC’s Phil Rudd to Release First-Ever Solo Album
17 July 2014Even though AC/DC recently completed work on their first album in six years, they’re about to get some competition from within their own ranks.
On Aug. 29, drummer Phil Rudd will release his debut solo album, ‘Head Job.’
Rudd phoned in to Sydney’s Triple M radio this morning to discuss it. “I hope everyone thinks this is a great album from start to finish because that’s the idea,” he said. “There’s plenty of Phil on there, but no filler.”
The first single, ‘Repo Man,’ will have its premiere on Friday on Triple M.
Other titles include ‘Bad Move,’ ‘Crazy’ and the title track.
Rudd said that Alan Badger contributed vocals and Jeffrey Martin played guitar on the album.
The three of them collaborated on the songwriting.
Naturally, he was asked about AC/DC’s next record, which will be their first without ailing guitarist Malcolm Young.
Rudd didn’t offer much information other than to say, “I’m very happy to have it all done. It’s all very good, by the way,” but adds that “There’s no comparisons between the two but they’re both very good.”
