20,000 Days on Earth,  the Sundance-winning documentary inspired by Nick Cave, will premiere in movie theaters across North America beginning September 19th. In anticipation, Cave has shared a previously unreleased song from the film’s soundtrack.

A staple of the Bad Seeds’ live show for some time, 'Give Us A Kiss' is quintessential Cave: a fragile, doom-laden piano ballad punctuated by twinkling percussion, a dramatic string section, and Cave-ian poetry like “In the blue room you whispered into the music.” Listen in below (via The Quietus).

'Give Us A Kiss' was recorded during the same sessions that led to Cave’s latest LP, Push the Sky Away. On November 10th, it’ll be released on 10-inch vinyl, backed by a live version of 'Jubilee Street' recorded at the Sydney Opera House. You can stream that track here.

As its title suggests, the documentary captures Cave’s 20,000th day on Earth. For the day in question, directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard devised a number of improvisational situations for Cave, specifically: “writing in his office, having lunch with his main songwriting collaborator Warren Ellis, and visiting the Nick Cave Archive.”
