Paul McCartney releases original song from Destiny video game - listen
11 September 2014Paul McCartney recently added “video game composer” to his already ginormous resume by scoring Activision’s first-person shooter Destiny. Teaming with seasoned composers Mike Salvatori and Marty O’Donnell, the legendary rocker contributed a number of original pieces of music, including a 50-minute orchestral score and the game’s theme song.
Entitled 'Hope For The Future', the four-minute theme song was recorded with a 120-member orchestra led by Giles Martin (son of former Beatles producer George Martin), and was produced by Mark “Spike” Stent (Madonna, U2, Lady Gaga). Even if classical music isn’t exactly your cup of tea, McCartney’s sweeping, overly romanticized vocals add a much-needed sheen of pop to the procession of blaring horns, crashing drums, and twinkling piano.
