SLIPKNOT's camel dung burning festival plans pooped on by county officials
16 October 2014SLIPKNOT are reworking their bizarre plans to flood their music festival with the smell of camel dung after fire officials ruled the process illegal. Last month, the heavy metal rockers announced plans to create an aroma that would last the entire three-day Knotfest event by setting alight oil drums filled with camel feces.
Percussionist Shawn Crahan told Rollingstone.com, "We did the camel dung on the first Knotfest. It was awesome; it was beautiful... (fans) came into the museum and they had to be hit with camel s---. A very distinct smell... it's gonna be a reoccurring thing."
However, their bizarre scheme has been scrapped because burning oil is illegal in California, where the second Knotfest will take place in October. According to TMZ.com, county fire officials also say the smell could be considered a public nuisance.
A representative for the group says the rockers want the aroma to remain a feature of the festival and will come up with a safer way to create it. The three-day event will take place in San Bernadino between October 24 and 26.
