Lana Del Rey managed to avoid a sophomore slump with Ultraviolence, her dark and turbulent meditation on perception vs. reality. For album No. 3, however, the New York songwriter plans something “very different” as she is returning to a sound “similar” to her 2012 pop-leaning debut, Born to Die.

The new album is titled Honeymoon and Del Rey has already written nine songs for it. She also plans to include a cover of 'Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood', a song made popular by Nina Simone. (Del Rey covered another Simone staple 'The Other Woman' on Ultraviolence.)

Of the material recorded thus far, Del Rey says four of the songs feature “perfect” production, adding, “I’m looking for a few more songs to tie everything together.”

All the while, Del Rey’s contribution to Tim Butron’s latest film Big Eyes is on the shortlist for an Academy Award.
