AC/DC founder and guitarist Malcolm Young and his wife Linda have splashed out more than $10 million on a waterfront property that changed hands only last year.

The top-secret sale has been verified through NSW land titles and was negotiated by Noel Nicholson of LJ Hooker Palm Beach.

Mr Nicholson was staying tight-lipped about details of the sale, citing a strict confidentiality clause. But he did confirm a sale of more than $10 million had settled.

The sale is the biggest on the northern beaches this year. The five-bedroom home is on an absolute beachfront site of about 520sq m and is among many multimillion-dollar properties in the street.

Young, who is regarded as a major influence on the development of hard rock and heavy metal music, retired from AC/DC last year. with a statement from the band citing “ill health”.

In November, brother and fellow band member Angus Young told the ABC’s 7.30 Malcolm had been diagnosed with dementia. AC/DC’s Rock Or Bust tour kicks off in Holland in May and is expected to reach Australia late this year or early next year.
