Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has revealed that he is suffering from a potentially deadly disease.

The singer has been battling against the viral blood infection Hepatitis C in secrecy for some years and has only just made it public now.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, he admitted: “I’ve had Hepatitis C for a long time. I’ve been pretty quiet about this.

“The band took a break about three years ago… My doctor said now is the time, and it’s 11 months of chemotherapy, so I went on that and it about killed me.

“I would run upstairs at night to put the kids asleep, and wake up at 3 in the morning you know, with a nosebleed from the interferon. It’s a shot and pills and all that.”

Tyler is now on a course of powerful injections to help fight the disease, although he claims he isn’t suffering from any symptoms at the moment.

He’s not the first member of Aerosmith to fight a deadly illness. Bassist Tom Hamilton is still recovering from treatment for throat cancer.
